ON A LOVELY LONG WALK this week from Urnäsch to Appenzell, in Switzerland, Present Occupant recalled a couple of recent headlines she’d seen:

On this walk, P.O. did have a few, well okay, several moments of Verzweiflung (exasperation) due to –you guessed it! — sightings of Zigarrettenkippen littered on the Wanderweg and the Barfussweg. Not to mention what was left behind after smokers sat on the thoughtfully placed Banks (benches) and used the surrounding area as an ashtray…what was that about NATURE EXPERIENCE and negative aspects of who, exactly?!
